*cough cough*

Poor little guy. I'm pretty much done with my cold. But the boy is having a hard time letting it go. Actually, he seems to be getting worse, except his fever is gone. Five weeks is a ridiculously long time to have a cough. Granted he has a cold on top of whatever it is that's really going on, but it seems obvious it's keeping him from healing properly.

The albuterol they gave him makes him cough worse and longer, so I wonder if he really does have asthma. Of course, it could just be helping his lungs work harder to get the gunk out. I just wish I knew. Maybe he needs an oral med or something. So we go back to the doctor yet again this afternoon to re-evaluate this asthma diagnosis and talk about chest xrays and fun things like that. Lovely. Did I mention I'm 38 weeks pregnant? I really am the only person I know who wants to go past her due date. Feb 29 looks really good right now.

  1. Oh my heavens, I can't believe you're at 38 weeks already! That's awesome!

Sorry to hear your little guy is still sick. I'm glad you got over it, though. It's *awful* being pregnant and not being able to really take anything for your sore throat/cough/etc.

  2. You know, the medication they gave Josh to stop his coughing when he was in the hospital actually made him cough worse.

Also--make sure he's properly hydrated. No more than one glass of juice a day, and plenty of water (milk doesn't count) to help his lungs work at peak efficiency.

  3. Poor guy, I sure hope he gets over that soon. Ricardo was like that last year when we came back to Calgary, he had a cough for two months. I felt awful for him.
You're right, I think you are the only person that wants to go past your due date! You're a courageous lady.

  4. I love his pediatrician. Actually, it's a group practice and the other one didn't know what she was talking about, I think. But we saw the asthma specialist yesterday. He said it's not asthma (they don't actually diagnosis that til age 6) and the first one was probably a bad virus or bacteria (he's finishing antibiotics) that really weakened his lungs. But just in case he's being checked for pertussis. I guess there's an outbreak in UT county right now. He's up on his vaccinations, but 5-10% of people don't get the immunity. So we'll see. Now D has the cold too. Masks for everyone when baby comes.

  7. My cousin just gave me a box of masks if you want some. :-)

I love the idea of the 29th! I was WAY off, but before all the problems I kind of hoped I'd go over and hit it.
