Just in time for Christmas

So you may have noticed I haven't been posting much. I've been having some health problems and haven't been feeling too well and I didn't want to say anything until we knew more. Though we still don't know much. So this week I had a bunch of tests run by my cardiologist and they found some excess fluid around my heart. Today they told me it was still mild and they weren't too concerned right now, they'd keep an eye on it, and what to watch out for in case it gets worse. I had a Holter monitor on yesterday and this morning and they're going to look at that as well. But because of Christmas it didn't sound like I'd hear the results of that for a while. So I go back in first week of January and meanwhile I'm on modified bed rest. I basically have to avoid getting my heart rate up which means I'm done Christmas shopping whether I'm actually done or not (I'm not). I'm also missing holiday parties and that sucks! But holiday guests are banned from my home which I'm okay with. I get so anxious when people come over, I have a 3 year old, it's never clean! Part of me is annoyed there's no definitive diagnosis yet, but I'm also relieved that it isn't more serious at this point, even though I feel like I'm having a heart attack. Baby's doing well, so we're all happy about that and it's only about 8-9 more weeks before she's expected to come. Hopefully we'll get this figured out before then.

  1. Hopefully you'll be better at 'bedrest' than I am. You would think after I felt so much better in the Hospital when they wouldn't let me move that I would be great at it now that I'm home....

  2. Hey take it easy. No stressing allowed about the holiday. From working at the Dr’s office I can tell ya that if they found anything very serious on the Holter monitor they won’t make you wait that long for the results. The Dr usually has someone “on-call” to check things like this out for him if he is out for the holiday.
Happy Holiday and enjoy the peace and quiet while you have it!

  3. I'm sorry there's fluid on your heart! I hope you're okay and not too stressed. I'm sorry I can't come pamper you and clean your house and abduct your three-year-old for the day. I'll be back in January, and then I can come help.

  4. It's funny, they weren't even going to do the Holter for 3 more weeks but after my echo one suddenly became available. So here's hoping they don't call me back before my appointment!
Bobbie, I know what you mean. I already feel better today, but it's still hard, I hate feeling unproductive. At least we're not those girls who can't even get up to pee or bathe!
And Dana's really helping to make sure I stay calm and relaxed. Luckily he gets days off for the holidays.

  5. I'm so sorry to hear that you aren't feeling so well. I can definitely empathize with your bedrest situation. I had that for awhile with my last pregnancy, and wasn't allowed out of bed for anything. It was awful, and very depressing.
I'm definitely going to keep you in my prayers and hope that you get well soon and have a fantastic delivery when the time comes.
Also, you should post some pregnancy photos, those are the best.
    Merry Christmas!
