being a mom sucks...

...when your kid is sick.  And you feel so helpless because they can't tell you what's going on yet.  I take it for granted because he never gets sick.  The only other time he's actually been sick was this random fever that ended in a seizure and then went away.  At first we thought it was his egg allergies getting worse, then the fever hit. And kept going up.  Doctor says it's stomach flu (thank goodness) and it's going around bad.  Poor kid can't eat anything.  At least the tylenol is staying down today so his fever is lower.

I hate that stomach flu mimicks so many crappy diseases like west nile virus, appendicitis, and meningitis.  It makes it next to impossible to not be a paranoid parent.

  1. Aww I hope he feels better soon. I agree with your points about the flu being deceiving, it drives me nuts.

  2. Ah man... it is truly rough when the kids are sick. I'm not a big fan of medication, but thank heavens for Tylenol to help our babies at least feel better. Plus, it tastes good and they think it's so nice of you to give them a lovely treat, making you ten times cooler.

  3. Alternate tylenol and motrin for a lovely every four hour relief. I too have been fortunate that Jill has only truly been sick once..truly being projectile vomiting. As far as being a paranoid parent..take Jill's tendency to over dramatize everything, I didn't believe her when she gave herself a black eye!

  4. Gravol suppositories are your friend. In Canada, at least. Do you have them there?

  5. That must be an Eastern Canadian thing.
